HistoryThe Liverpool Muslim Society (LMS) was formed in 1953 by (the late) Al-Haj Ali Hizzam. In the 1965 the LMS established the construction of the Al Rahma Mosque, wich was completed in 1974. The Al Rahma Mosque is located at the historic heart of the Muslim Community: the Granby neighbourhood of Liverpool 8. L8 neighbourhood is also the historic multi-cultural district, where Muslims and non-Muslims have in harmony for long period of time. For its early days, Liverpool Muslim Society established a positive relationship with the local communities, divers organisations and agencies including city council. It is seen by the majority of people in this community as providing a voice for the Muslims in Liverpool and Merseyside.
