Islamic Marriages Nikkah Ceremony A 'Nikkah' or a marriage contract according to Islamic Shariah (Islamic law) may be performed at the Islamic Cultural Centre. The Nikkah ceremony will be performed by any one of the appointed Imams (Muslim Ministers) of the Liverpool Muslim Society Al Rahma Mosque.
Procedure The procedure for perform a marriage at the Liverpool Muslim Society is outlined below in a very simple way . Make an appointment well in advance by calling Office on 0151 7092560 and present the following documents: ID of the Bride and the Groom Original Civil Marriage Certificate from the register office. Two Muslim Male witnesses. A Bride Responsible ( Wali) Conversion Certificate for new Muslims.. Marriage Certificate The Islamic Cultural Centre will issue an original certificate after the Nikkah ceremony which should be kept in a safe place for any future reference. Please note that the Centre will not issue certificates for Nikkah ceremonies outside Liverpool Mosque including ceremonies performed by other imams at other mosques. There is no charge to offset the cost of issuing the certificates. The Mosque also welcomes donations which can be submitted to the Officer or to the Mosque when completing the application form for marriage. Marriages - Non UK Residents Muslim brides and bridegrooms who are not permanent residents in the UK and/or who have dual nationality, are advised to consult their respective Embassies to comply with any regulations and/or requirements of their home country, if any, before entering into a UK marriage contract. From Non-Muslim Brides The brides who are not Muslims must produce a signed affidavit stating that the children born from such a marriage will be brought up as Muslims even in cases of separation or divorce and/or any UK court orders, irrespective of who will be given custody of the children.
